Your rights
Did you know that there are a number of law's and standards that make discrimination or exclusion from education based on disability illegal?
- The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) specifies that education providers must make efforts to include people with a Disability as students or face the possibility of court action. The DDA is currently being reviewed.
- Disability Standards for Education have just come into force. The Standards are intended to give students with disabilities the same rights as other students. They are based on the premise that all students have the right to be treated with dignity and enjoy the benefits of education and training in an educationally supportive environment.
