Philosophy and Objectives
The Adult Community and Further Education Board supports education and training for a broad range of Victorians over compulsory school-leaving age with a special focus on people who have had limited access to education.
ACFE programs support learners to return to study, improve their literacy and numeracy skills, gain a qualification, broaden their employment options or learn new skills.
Adult Community Education (ACE) organisations provide a unique, community-based context for learning. They have a genuine focus on the individual needs of learners and the flexibility to meet their learning requirements. There are more than 350 ACE organisations spread across Victoria. These organisations are often the only access point for adults to learning in their area.
Our Role
The ACE Disability Network supports ACE providers to better meet the diverse needs of students with a variety of disabilities by educating and supporting the ACE sector to develop inclusive policy and practice.
Our Vision
The Victorian community to embrace diversity.
Our Mission
To strengthen the capacity of the Victorian ACE sector to be fully inclusive of people with a variety of disabilities by providing education and training, information resources, practical support and developing and fostering valuable partnerships.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is based on the belief that everybody has a right to access education and training. This means that anyone should be able to undertake an ACE course/program regardless of disability.
Our Objectives
Our network supports and assists ACE providers by:
- promoting information sharing among ACE providers with respect to disability
- providing training and professional development to ACE providers on a wide range of disability issues
- promoting the development of strong networks that strengthen and improve service delivery to people with disabilities
- providing support, advice and practical assistance to ACE providers in order to work more effectively with people with disabilities.
